Swampscott Park for Off-leash Time

A Need for Green

We want to give an update as to where we are in our planning.  We were hoping to break ground in the Spring, pending a landscape plan and town approval.  But we have found it difficult to locate sponsors and help with the landscaping.  We are actively seeking support in this area, and we may have to raise more funds to cover commercial landscaping costs if we cannot secure a donation of services.

If you or someone you know has strengths in this area and would consider donating services toward the dog park, please let us know.  We are looking forward to creating a new green space in town that will be a great place for dogs and humans alike.
Thank you.

A New Year - An Updated Board

Thanks to all who attended our January SPOT meeting, and welcome to our new members.  Elections for board members were held at this meeting and results are as follows:

Marc Eichler:  Board Chairman
Lynn Zabar:  Vice Chair
Jennifer Dorsey:  Communications Director, Clerk
Andrea Diamant:  Treasurer
Joan Caradonna:  Board Member

Past Fundraising Events

We've been having fun!  Check out what we've done so far:

2010 Fourth of July Parade and Strawberry Festival
SPOT supporters, the two footed and the four footed, marched in the Swampscott parade.  The parade ended at the Strawberry Festival, where folks lined up for "SPOT dogs" (hot dogs) to support our cause.

Tides Fundraising Night
Thank you to everyone who came to the Tides Restaurant in Nahant on May 10th, 2010 to help raise money to build the SPOT park.  We had a great turnout of supporters, friends and family who all enjoyed a great meal, great prizes and a great time.

A special thank you to all the vendors who were so generous with their gift baskets, gift certificates and prizes:

Atlantic Veterinary Hospital
     Fuzzy Friends Pet Care
     Lucia Lighting & Design
     Luna's Pet Depot
     Marblehead Pet Supply
     Old North Clayworks

Walk for Respect
SPOT owners and their friends turned out Sunday May 23rd to support the Walk for Respect and helped out the cause by handing out water to two and four legged walkers.  Congrats to all the walkers for participating in such a great cause.

Bark in the Park
On August 2, 2009, we had our Bark in the Park event and it was a huge success!  Thank you to all our vendors, attendees, and SPOT committee members for making this such a great way to spend an afternoon.

SPOT '09 July 4th / Strawberry Festival Float

The rain held off and we had a great turn out for the 2009 July 4th Parade and Strawberry Festival.  SPOT was well represented with many 4-legged friends and their owners walking the route in front of the SPOT float.  Thanks to all for the hard work!
